Welcome to the first ever Alfie Nick Foundation newsletter! It's been a long time coming. Since launching the Foundation, we've been busy turning ideas into action and bringing some exciting projects to life. While that's meant this newsletter has taken a little longer to arrive than we'd hoped, it also means we have plenty of good news to share.

There's far more happening than we could possibly fit into one edition, so we've picked out just a few highlights to give you a flavour of the opportunities your support is helping to create. We hope you enjoy reading about the difference we're making together - this is just the beginning!

I'm delighted to share that over the past year, we've committed £100,000 to supporting vulnerable children. Every pound represents an opportunity to help a child overcome adversity and thrive, and we're incredibly excited about the impact this will continue to have.

None of this would be possible without you. Whether you've donated, fundraised, volunteered, attended an event, shared our story, partnered with us or championed our mission in any other way, thank you. Every act of generosity is helping us create life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged children.

Moving on Up! Our latest initiative with Urban Pursuit is live!

Moving from Year 6 to Year 7 is one of the biggest milestones in a child's education. While it's exciting for many, it can also be an overwhelming and uncertain time - particularly for children facing additional challenges. That's why, in partnership with Urban Pursuit, we've launched a brand new transition programme to support vulnerable children before, during and after this important change. Over six weeks in primary school, a summer adventure camp and a further six weeks after starting secondary school, the programme provides consistent support, trusted relationships and opportunities to build confidence and resilience. We're incredibly excited to see the impact this project will have and, if successful, we'd love to expand it so even more children can benefit next year.

Introducing the Wonder Workshop

We're delighted to have launched the Wonder Workshop, a creative programme funded by the Alfie Nick Foundation and delivered by professional magician and friend of the Foundation, Callum Weaver. Through the power of magic, Callum helps children build confidence, strengthen communication skills and discover what they're capable of in a fun, engaging and supportive environment.

The programme launched in June at Bradley Stoke Community School and the early response has been incredibly encouraging. Teachers have already observed positive changes in pupils' confidence, engagement and attitudes, with more detailed feedback and impact data currently being gathered. We're excited to be introducing the Wonder Workshop to additional schools in the next academic year and look forward to sharing the programme's impact as it develops.

Transforming Lives Through Early Intervention

This year, we've been proud to partner with Now, Next & Then and The Leaf Trust on an innovative Occupational Therapy pilot supporting some of the most vulnerable children at St Barnabas C of E Primary School. By identifying and addressing the barriers affecting children's ability to learn, regulate and engage, the programme has helped pupils build confidence, participate more fully in school life and develop the foundations they need to thrive.

The early impact has been remarkable, benefiting not only the children involved but also equipping school staff with new skills and approaches that will continue to support future pupils. Encouraged by these outcomes, we're now working with our partners to explore how this model could be expanded to reach more schools and even more vulnerable children.

Healing Through Connection

Our partnership with Move the Mind continues to make a profound difference to children who have experienced significant trauma. Through regular horse-assisted therapeutic sessions, children are finding a safe place to regulate their emotions, build confidence and develop trusting relationships with caring adults. The consistency of the programme has become an important source of stability, giving them something positive to look forward to each week while creating precious opportunities for families to connect and heal together.

Recent feedback from Bath & North East Somerset Children's Services highlights the sustained impact the programme is having, with growing confidence, stronger emotional regulation and deeper relationships all helping children move forward with hope.

Creating a Safe Space to Heal

Through our partnership with Luna Play Therapy, we're helping vulnerable children at St Woolos Primary School in Newport, South Wales, access specialist therapeutic support at a time when they need it most. The Alfie Nick Foundation has funded the creation of a play therapy room and is funding life changing support for the schools most vulnerable. Delivered within the safety of the school, play therapy provides children with a trusted space to process trauma, express difficult emotions and begin to make sense of life experiences that no child should have to face.

We've already seen the difference this support can make for children who have experienced abuse, neglect and family breakdown, helping them feel safer, build resilience and become more ready to learn. As our partnership continues, we're committed to ensuring more children can access this life-changing support.
